The Entrepreneur's Legal Quiz with Jessica Oldani

Jessica Oldani of Oldani Entrepreneurial Law will lead us through a fun, interactive quiz for entrepreneurs.This presentation touches on a number of relevant legal issues for freelancers, startups, entrepreneurs, and small-to-medium businesses. We will discuss intellectual property, proper business formation and maintenance, classification of employees and independent contractors, and more. Come test your knowledge. Bring your questions. These are topics every business needs to know!

Ms. Oldani holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Business and Trade Law from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, with LL.M coursework certificates in International Corporate and Finance Law and International Trade Law. Prior to founding Oldani Entrepreneurial Law, P.C., Ms. Oldani practiced international business and trade law at a boutique Chicago-based firm representing multinational business clients. Years prior, after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, Ms. Oldani founded and ran her first business, a successful Chicago-area not-for-profit corporation. Ms. Oldani brings real-world operational and bottom-line intelligence to her practice, advising small-to-midmarket businesses on structuring and protecting domestic and international entities, relationships, and transactions. Ms. Oldani represents for-profit and not-for-profit clients in a wide range of industries, and serves as a knowledgeable and trusted advisor, not only for her clients, but also within the local business community. In addition to running her practice, Ms. Oldani serves on the City of Evanston Minority, Women, and Evanston Business Enterprise Development Committee, working to address community and small business development. Ms. Oldani is a member of the American Bar Association’s (“ABA’s) Section of Intellectual Property (“IP”) Law and of the ABA IP Law Section’s Copyright Legislation Committee. Ms. Oldani is a respected speaker on legal issues relevant to entrepreneurs and business leaders.

"Getting Intentional About Inclusion: at Work and in Your Community"

Join us Tuesday, March 19th from 5:30 PM to 7 PM for a community networking event centered around Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Access. 

Chanté Thurmond, D&I Talent Consultant, will be hosting an inclusive networking event designed open to professionals of all backgrounds. She will share D&I workplace trends, best practices and inclusive terminology that will empower participants to have more inclusive conversations at work, home and in our respective communities.


PRESENTER’S BIO

Chanté Thurmond (she/her) is a D&I Talent Consultant who partners with emerging tech startups, digital health innovation companies, and VC/PE firms throughout the United States helping them attract & retain top talent.

Chanté’s interests are full-bodied, eclectic and reflective of her entrepreneurial spirit. In 2018 she founded The Darkest Horse (TDH), a digital media production company on a mission to spotlight underrepresented leaders in tech who are beating the odds. TDH produces content that explores the intersections of Diversity, Equity, Access and Inclusion; The Future of Work; Emerging Technology and Human Potential. 

In addition, she serves as a consultant and trusted advisor to a handful of small businesses and early-stage startups such as 818 Coworking, Symba, Scarleteen and Contributing Writer at Futurithmic, a new digital publication powered by NOKIA that explores the implications of emerging tech.

Her background encompasses Organizational Development, Social Innovation, Health & Well-being, and Community Engagement. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Mount Mercy University and a M.A. from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN. Chanté is a proud mother of twins and Midwest native who now considers Evanston & Skokie home.
